Newbie

Well, I guess I have officially started a family blog. Hopefully I will be able to keep everyone caught up on the latest happenings of our family.

Fall is always a busy time for us. We try to get so much fun in before the weather turns cold.
We did a train ride for Halloween and that was such a neat experience.

Christmas is coming and I'm ready to get the decorations up. Maybe this weekend. Speaking of Christmas... I was talking with a mom at gymnastics about Christmas gifts. And she is a minimalist shopper as well. I spent a small fortune on the first couple of Christmas' for Lily, but last year I changed course. I have decided that offering experiences instead of elaborate gifts is going to be our family tradition. I try to involve her in some type of Christmas ministry. Last year we made shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. I haven't decided what to do just yet for this year, if you have some ideas let me know. There are so many opportunities for a child and Christmas is a perfect time to give them great experiences that they will remember. I really need to decide what we'll do this year in the way of a family activity... maybe the nutcracker. I've let time pass me by and haven't made any plans. Don't feel sorry for Lily, she still receives many gifts, much more than some children, but we keep it within reason. :)
